Paris Graff Artist Mad C painted as a part of the Graffiti exhibition at Oahu's Hip Hop Fest yesterday afternoon. She was the only female graff artist there, and she held her position down tuff.

Something sweet, a choice of syrups: classic maple, coconut and I don't know what the red one is (it tasted like sugar) I love having options.

The syrup On top of a short stack of fluffy butter milk pancakes. I chose to have mine Island sweet with the coconut syrup.

And to balance out that sugar that i consumed Portuguese Sausage and Fried egg. Gave me all the energy to hit the beach. More Hawaii Eats to come. Eight former Black community activists  – Black Panthers and others – were arrested January 23, 2007 in California, New York, and Florida on charges related to the 1971 killing of a San Francisco police officer.

Similar charges were thrown out after it was revealed that police used torture to extract confessions when some of these same men were arrested in New Orleans in 1973.

Yeah I know Summer isn't until June but my Summer Vacation comes next week, and I couldn't have come at a better time. 2009 has been one of the most challenging years of my life. Direct Services for youth is intense and emotionally and mentally taxing, but very necessary in helping to heal our youth, and I couldn't be happier to assist in the process.

At any rate being painfully aware of reality, makes me want to escape into fantasy every now and then. So me an the BFF Miss Hopie Spitshard treked to Fantasy Nails in the Excelsior to prepare for our perspective Hawaiian Island get away.

Mama always said to take the time to smell the roses.

See...It's Pandamonium

Every time around this time of year, I get that itch... naw nothing having to do with feminine internal clocks, or anything drug induced, but I get that tattoo itch. Maybe it's the fact that I'm one year older and wiser and need to commemorate that rite, or, maybe, it's just the fact that I get that tax return and have a little bit of disposable income... at any rate once again I took a trip to Skull and Sword Tattoo on Cesar Chavez and Mission, to visit my tattoo artist Lango... Like most artists he's very illusive so it's best to observe him in his natural habitat.

Some say he's something of a rare breed in the tattoo world. But until I met him I didn't understand what they meant. Some say he's half man half animal with wild death metal mane, but I know the truth.... Soon you will too.

This year I treated myself to a "wise eyed rose"  in honor of a series of epiphanies I made about being a women. What I have come to realize is that every great women has her own awakening, some are as easy as waking up from a nap, some are earth shattering and jolting like, waking up from a nightmare... none the less it leaves you awake and "conscious" to yourself and the world around you. Lango asked that I mix some magical gypsy juice to help with the pain, I usually want to do it all natural but after the piece on my arm he insisted. =)

There he is... the nicest Brazilian Panda in the world :) before we started he invite me to his gallery opening this Friday May 8th 2009, entitled "Pandamonium" opening this Friday at Space Gallery , 1141 Polk St., San Francisco. Then in his own Pandamonium Lango expressed how important it was that I didn't move. I agreed I'd do my best.

But sometimes it's hard to keep a straight face especially when you're having fun ;)

Life = Art and food is what gives us that energy to create it. But with our busy "American" life's and the current economic turmoil who has the "time" or $ to fine dine. But my home girl Michi an I made the time visited one of Frisco's son Kazu Matsuba at his families resturant Bushi- Tei Bistro Located at 1581 Webster St San Francisco, for a quick bite to eat and to experience the affordable culinary artistry, of Japanese born and raised Chef Toshi.

Kaz recommended a Patianna sauvignon blanc to accompany our dishes

To start : Curry Miso Soup (this soup was made with a lot of love, potatoes, Japanese yams, pork and carrots in a miso soup, finished with a drizzle of curry oil)

Garlic Bread & Manila Clams with shaved orange peel garnish ( so aromatic)

Seaweed Salad

For the Main:

Thai Style Crab

Squid ink Spaghetti with Scallops

And you have to save room for dessert Crème Brûlée with a Black Berry Confiet

Beignet's were an experience. I first fell in love with beignet when my father brought me back a mix that he picked up in New Orleans' Latin Quater, when I was 7 years old. The Chef adds a touch of Okinawa by adding roasted soy bean powder and a black sugar syrup instead of the traditional powdered sugar used to garnish this Frenchie doughnutt.

Chef Toshi is a man after my own stomach... I mean heart... =) As a youth Chef Toshi, like many young artists, struggled to conform to the status quo, but he hustled against the odds and pursued his passion for fine dining, becoming a chef at Bushi- Tei and now Head Chef at Bushi-Tei Bisto. photos by Miss Nina Parks. =)
